YOUTHS across Wrexham have been urged not to waste food by copying a social media prank trend called "beaning."
Wrexham Sergeant David Smith said the act has seen youth across the country buying tins of beans and emptying the contents onto people's doorsteps.
He said: "There appears to be a new craze called ‘beaning’.
"Unfortunately we have received a report of ‘beaning’ in the Wrexham Town area earlier this week.
"It’s unacceptable. Such behaviour causes distress and upset to those that are on the receiving end of such a prank.
"It also causes unnecessary inconvenience for them as they have to clean it up.
"Those found committing such an act are potentially causing criminal damage, so I ask that if anyone is considering buying a tin of beans with the intention of emptying its contents on someone’s property to refrain from doing it and do a good deed instead.
"Donate it to a foodbank where it would be used to help feed those that are currently struggling to buy food rather than waste it."
