A COLWYN Bay school is to host a ‘Make a Difference Day’ as part of their ongoing efforts to develop sustainability in the community and enhance opportunities for students.

Ysgol Bryn Elian has partnered with Business2Schools, a national charity who specialise in moving unwanted technology and furniture to schools.

On Friday, October 1, the school’s recent fundraising endeavours will culminate in ‘Make a Difference Day’ where they will host their MP, David Jones and Business2Schools chief executive Lindsey Parslow in a day of celebration.

Next week, the whole school is also taking part in a sponsored walk to raise money to make a difference through these schemes.

Paul Woodhouse, head of business and computing at Ysgol Bryn Elian, has spearheaded the campaign, and said: “These are premium quality resources, which schools are unable to afford.

“As a flagship school, we have received over £600,000 worth of equipment and technology over the past three months. This has included our recent pack of 180 i7 desktop PCs.

“These are distributed to schools and used within Bryn Elian. We have already created amazing spaces and are working to reduce the digital divide in North Wales.”

Ysgol Bryn Elian is challenging businesses in the area to get involved by raising money, donating products or services they can offer, or being creative with their own fundraising ideas.
