ENTHUSIASTIC litter pickers are being invited to join Keep Tidy Wales and BBC Radio Wales presenter and comedian Kiri Pritchard-Mclean for a beach clean up in Colwyn Bay.

The event, on Saturday, October 9, is being held to celebrate the launch of the seaside litter picking hub at the Porth Eirias building.

Ms Pritchard Mclean will make an appearance as part of the BC Radio Wales’ ‘Make a Difference’ campaign.

Helpers are asked to bring sensible footwear, clothes, gloves and "heaps of energy."

Phil Vipond, environment officer, ERF Open Spaces at Conwy County Borough Council said: “Our public and community groups support to Litter Picking events in Conwy makes a significant contribution to the cleanliness and environmental standards of our county.

"Without the enormous efforts and time that they commit to on a regular basis in our public open spaces, we would not see the visual benefits of their commitments to the ridding of litter.

"We remain extremely grateful to them all for the work they undertake for the betterment of our county and for the benefit of our communities and visitors to enjoy."

Lesley Jones, Keep Wales Tidy chief executive, said: "We’re thrilled to be teaming up with BBC Radio Wales on this exciting clean-up event in Colwyn Bay. It’s a fantastic opportunity to shine a spotlight on some of our incredible volunteers and demonstrate just how easy it is to care for where you live."

Meet at the Porth Eirias Reception area at 10am.
