FAMILIES are invited take part in dance, music, performance and crafts as part of an arts festival at Venue Cymru this month.

The Family Arts Festival will see a series of workshops and activities for children and young people over the coming weeks.

This includes a Young Composer Group with musician and composer Jon Guy, from New Sinfonia. The workshops will explore writing, performing and recording your own music. Participants - who must be aged 12 to 18 - might not consider themselves to be a composer or music creator just yet, but these sessions aim to discover a creative voice and help it flourish. Children will develop their own pieces, share and perform each others work and work with other fantastic music creators who will give you amazing insights in to music creation that you might not have thought of before take place from October 25-27.

A different workshop takes inspiration from the Book of Leaves in the Conwy Museum Collection, creating fabulous layered prints with printmaker Ruth Thomas. Using Ruth’s printing press, participants - aged seven and above - will print directly from pressed leaves to make some beautiful artwork to take home. The two sessions take place on October 25.

Another event reflecting on the Book of Leaves asks participants - aged seven and above - to bring collected leaves to the session led by artist Tara Dean. Through drawing and tracing, participants will transfer their finds and make a printed design inspired by their observations. The outcomes of the process will be collected in a small folded book in celebration of the original Book of Leaves. Ths takes place on October 26.
