MORE than 2,900 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Wales.

Public Health Wales figures released on Sunday (October 17) report that 2,965 new cases were recorded in the latest 24-hour period.

Of the new cases reported today, 369 were in North Wales.

Denbighshire had the most new cases of the virus - 75. Flintshire had 73 new cases.

The new cases of covid in North Wales can be broken down to:

  • Anglesey 55
  • Gwynedd 49

Sadly, a further 10 people have died in Wales in the latest 24-hour period having tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 28 days. 6,015 people in Wales have died after a positive test since the start of the pandemic.

2,233,733 people have now had two doses of a coronavirus vaccine.

The seven-day rolling infection rate in Wales as a whole is now 529.3 cases per 100,000 people. In North Wales, only the rate in Denbighshire is above the national average.
