MORE than 3,000 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Wales.

Public Health Wales figures released on Tuesday (October 19) report that 3,200 new cases were recorded in the latest 24-hour period.

Of the new cases reported, 329 were in North Wales.

Flintshire had the most new cases of the virus - 80.

The new cases of covid in North Wales can be broken down to:

  • Gwynedd 65
  • Denbighshire 64
  • Wrexham 47
  • Anglesey 37
  • Conwy 36

Sadly, a further two people have died in Wales in the latest 24-hour period having tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 28 days. 6,037 people in Wales have died after a positive test since the start of the pandemic.

2,236,392 people have now had two doses of a coronavirus vaccine.

The seven-day rolling infection rate in Wales as a whole is now 581.1 cases per 100,000 people. In North Wales, only the rate in Denbighshire is slightly above the national average.

The infection rate is lowest in Wrexham.
