A MAN has been charged with sexual assault following an incident involving a 14-year-old girl in North Wales.

The incident occurred on Friday evening at a bus stop in Bangor.

Detectives have now charged 55-year-old man with sexual assault, North Wales Police has said.

Simon Paul King, from Colchester, Essex, has been remanded in custody and will appear before magistrates on Monday.

Police are continuing to appeal to a man who came to the girl's aid to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Davies said: "At the time this took place, an unknown man intervened and kindly provided help and support to the victim.

"The man is described as being white, approximately 40 years of age, bald, large build and having exited the 5C Bangor to Caernarfon bus in the Y Felinheli area.

"This person is key to our investigation and I’m appealing directly to him to come forward to speak with officers about the incident."

The victim is being fully supported by officers as the investigation into this matter continues.
