LLANDUDNO is among the eight top trending destinations on Booking.com, according to the popular holiday site.

The ‘Jewel of North Wales’ is listed alongside lavish French city Montpellier and the rural Gramado, Brazil as the most looked at locations by people planning a trip for 2022.

In total 24,055 respondents across 31 countries and territories were polled by Booking.com in an online survey in August 2021.

Data analysts selected the top destinations during June to September 2021 and ranked them by fastest growing when compared to the window of time of in 2019.

“Known as ‘The Queen of the Welsh Watering Places’, this Victorian seaside gem situated on the North Wales Coast is perfect for exploring beaches, nature and castles,” said Booking.com

“To see all of the city, the formidable limestone headland overlooking Llandudno is known as The Great Orme and visitors can travel up on a tram to reach the summit station for wonderful views.

“For a quintessentially British seaside experience, Llandudno pier is ideal for seaside fun and charming shops.”

It added: “Llandudno (pronounced lan.did.no) is also home to the Oriel Mostyn Gallery; an elegant building that showcases contemporary art lies nearby a variety of restaurants, pubs and shops.”

Booking.com’s annual Travel Predictions research found that over half (55 per cent) of travellers say they need to make up for lost vacation time from the pandemic. In addition, half (50 per cent) of travellers would rather go somewhere most people haven’t heard but have to keep it a secret, instead of a well-known destination that they can tell people about.

Other locations on the trending list included Atlanta in the USA, Taichung in Taiwan, Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, Brasov, in Romania, and Melaka in Malaysia.

The Travel Predictions 2022 research commissioned by Booking.com and conducted among a sample of adults who plan to travel for business or leisure in the next 12 to 24 months.
