A NORTH Wales musical theatre company is set to embark on a three-night run of its new fundraising show in Colwyn Bay this weekend.

Powerplay Musical Theatre Company, based in Penrhyn Bay, Rhyl and Rhos-on-Sea, will be presenting Music Theatre International (MTI)’s ‘All Together Now!’ at Rydal Penrhos Memorial Hall every night from November 12-14.

The proceeds from this one-act show will go towards raising funds for the group’s two musicals planned next year, Matilda and Shrek.

After almost two years without a show due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the group’s second production in as many months following their hugely successful performance of Jonathan Larson’s rock musical ‘RENT’ at Venue Cymru in October.

Powerplay’s creative director Amy Fenwick, who founded the group in 2007, said: “COVID-19 has hit everyone hard and it is amazing that MTI are giving local theatre companies all over the world this amazing opportunity to fundraise.

“For some, this is their first time back on stage since the pandemic closed theatres down.

“RENT was a huge success and I am so proud of the whole cast and crew; (there were) standing ovations at every show and incredible feedback from the audiences.

“I'm just so happy that we finally got to share it with everyone and get back on stage.”

‘All Together Now!’ will include songs for all of the family to enjoy, with hits from Frozen, Beauty and The Beast, Come from Away, Newsies, Mary Poppins, and many more, plus a special rendition of Seasons of Love featuring some of the group’s RENT cast.

Tickets are priced at £10 and can be purchased at: www.ppboxoffice.wixsite.com/alltogethernow. Seating is unreserved and cash sales only will be available on the door.
