A NORTH-WEST Wales hospice is encouraging residents to kick off their Christmas celebrations as a Santa by the sea this year.

The Santa Dash 5K, is free to enter for supporters of St David’s Hospice, which offers palliative care to adult patients across the region, with a minimum sponsorship requirement of £25.

The dash, organised by Bespoke Fitness and Events, takes you along Llandudno’s North Shore on Saturday, December 4, can be run, jogged or walked, and is open to all ages, making it a real family-friendly event.

Conwy community fundraiser, Adrian Owen, said: “This really is a great family event where even the family pet is welcome to come along and join in the festivities.

“It is a fun run and the emphasis is definitely on the fun part, not the running!

“In 2019, we had over 40 people take part for the hospice as part of the larger event which saw over 380 runners, and they raised almost £1,200 for palliative care in North Wales.

“We invite everyone to come along and soak up the festive atmosphere, whether you want to cheer the runners on or whether you would prefer to join in the event for yourself.

“We will be grateful for any support that you have to offer!”

Through money raised at fundraising events such as the Santa Dash, St David’s Hospice can continue to deliver free, specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and those in need of end-of-life care, while supporting their family and carers.

The dash starts at 10am at Llandudno Pier and every dasher gets a Santa suit and a festive finisher’s medal.
