Llandudno Football Club has applied for permission to change their free car park to pay and display, claiming fans and customers are struggling to park.

The current car park is free and open to the public, but the club say they hope parking meters will increase the number of available spaces.

The club claim the car park is used by heavy goods vehicles, blocking access for the thousands of visitors to the football ground.

The planning application was submitted this month by applicant Andrew Croston.

If the plans get the go ahead, parking meters will be installed at the car park on Builder Street West.

The ticket machines will be capable of taking coins and debit and credit cards, and CCTV cameras will also be installed.

The new pay and display will include seven illuminated aluminium signs, which are part of a separate planning application. These would include an entrance sign and tariff sign.

As part of the planning application, a mock-up of the sign reveals the club planned to charge 60p for one hour, £1.20 for two hours, £2 for four hours and £4.50 for all day and a £100 fine for those who broke the rules; however, these prices, as well as the fine, are now marked as ‘cancelled’ on the application.

The club has consulted neighbouring businesses, including Apex House, Brandon Tool Hire, Holmes and Murphy Veterinary Practice, Llandudno Garage, M And S Automotive Limited and North Wales Packing Company.

The application will be decided at a future meeting of Conwy County Council’s planning committee.
