FOOD hygiene ratings have been awarded to 10 businesses in Conwy this month.

The Food Standards Agency carried out the inspections at restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars and takeaways, in locations including Rhos-on-Sea, Llandudno, Conwy and Colwyn Bay, from November 2 to 11.

These included the newly opened Waterfront in Deganwy and the popular George & Dragon.

The agency rates the food hygiene practices of hospitality businesses out of five, according to criteria such as food handling, storage, cleanliness of facilities, and staff knowledge of hygiene practices.

And it is good news for people wanting to dine out or go for drink, as they can be assured that there are businesses who follow the best hygiene practices.

Restaurants and cafes:

• Rated 5: The Peacock Lounge, Rhos-on-Sea, Conwy, which was rated on November 4.

• Rated 5: The Peacock Lounge, Ty Gwyn Holiday Park, Towyn, rated on November 4.

• Rated 5: White Tower at 25 Lloyd Street, Llandudno, Conwy, rated on November 4.

• Rated 5: Emjays Cafe on Mostyn Street, Llandudno, rated on November 3.

Pubs and bars:

• Rated 5: The Waterfront in Deganwy, Conwy, rated on November 3.

• Rated 5: George & Dragon on Castle Street, Conwy, rated on November 2.
