ENTREPRENEURS in Colwyn Bay enjoyed a boost when the Small Business Saturday roadshow stopped by.

Aiming to support, celebrate and thank small businesses across North Wales, ‘The Tour’ profiled independent businesses, leaders, and experts from across the community, as it took centre stage in the city centre, with a striking fleet of zero emissions ‘small business style’ vehicles.

‘The Tour’ - which features an electric van, car and scooter, as well as a ‘delivery style’ push bike - set off from the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).

It aims to drive an environmental message about the “vital role” of the nation’s six-million small businesses in helping the UK reach net zero by 2050.

It will be visiting over 20 towns and cities in the UK, as part of the countdown to Small Business Saturday on December 4.

Supported by BT Skills for Tomorrow, The Tour featured stories of local businesses, which were live streamed across Small Business Saturday’s social media channels.

Last year Small Business Saturday achieved record-breaking success and saw an estimated £1.1 billion spent with small businesses across the UK on the day, according to research from American Express, the campaign’s founder and principal supporter in the UK.

“Despite the hugely tough period small businesses have endured across the UK, we have seen many businesses embrace new ways of working and a shift towards digital”, said Chris Sims, BT’s managing director for its SoHo (Single/Small office, Home office) unit.

“The Tour is a fantastic initiative to reach out and support small businesses with the digital skills they need as they look to scale up in key areas such as digital marketing and sustainability, and we are delighted to be supporting it again this year.”

Many entrepreneurs from across the region also took part in business mentoring and workshops, as part of a programme of online training and skills support that is being offered free by the campaign, on a range of small business topics.
