THERE have been more than 2,000 new cases of coronavirus recorded in Wales.

In the latest update from Public Health Wales on Wednesday, it was reported that 2,154 people have tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hour period.

Sadly, seven people died after a positive test during the same period.

Of these new cases, 627 were in the Betsi Cadwalader University Health Board area here in North Wales.

The new cases in North Wales can be broken down to:

  • Flintshire 147
  • Gwynedd 142
  • Wrexham 119
  • Conwy 87
  • Denbighshire 80
  • Anglesey 52

In Wales, 2,259,175 people have now had two doses of a vaccine.

And 751,460 people have had a booster vaccine.

The rolling seven-day infection rate in Wales is now 502 per 100,000 people.

In North Wales, Gwynedd and Wrexham have rates above the national average.

The rate in Gwynedd - 855 cases per 100,000 - is the highest in Wales.
