ROUGHLY 500 Santas lined the streets of Llandudno last weekend to take part in a Christmas fun run.

The Llandudno 5K Santa Dash took place on Saturday, December 4, with registration beginning at the pier on the North Shore at 8.45am before the race got underway at 10am.

Participants received not only their own Santa suit to wear, but also a medal upon completion of the fun run.

Ffion White, director at Bespoke Fitness and Events, who organised the event, said: “Llandudno Pier saw 500 Santas running and walking the 5K Llandudno Santa Dash.

“It was a great turnout and a fantastic atmosphere, with kids and adults of all ages taking part in this annual charity event, organised by Bespoke Fitness and Events. Thanks to all of the marshals.”

The 5K took place on the beautiful Llandudno seafront with an out and back route, along a comfortable tarmac surface to run on while admiring the stunning sea views all the while.

The Santa Dash 5K was also free to enter for supporters of St David’s Hospice, a charity based in Llandudno which offers palliative care to adult patients across North Wales, with a minimum sponsorship requirement of £25.

Through money raised at fundraising events such as the Santa Dash, St David’s Hospice can continue to deliver free, specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and those in need of end-of-life care, while supporting their family and carers.

Adrian Owen, Conwy community fundraiser at St David’s Hospice, said: “It is a fun run and the emphasis is definitely on the fun part, not the running!

“In 2019, we had over 40 people take part for the hospice as part of the larger event which saw over 380 runners, and they raised almost £1,200 for palliative care in North Wales.”
