FARMERS and their families are receiving a cash boost.

Sam Rowlands has welcomed the money.

The MS for North Wales said: "I am delighted to see Tir Dewi, receiving £305,550 from the National Community Lottery Fund to help them develop their support for farmers in crisis in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.

“The fund supports grassroots projects right up to developing long term plans and there is no doubt it is helping to make a difference in our communities during these challenging times.

“Tir Dewi is an excellent service and I am pleased to see it receive much needed financial backing.”

The organisation was originally set up in 2015 offering a free helpline, listening and sign-posting service for farmers in West Wales but is now available in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.

Over the next five years, the funding will help to develop its current provision in providing support for farmers in crisis in the North Wales region.

The National Lottery Community Fund is the largest funder of community activity in Wales and its aim is to enable people and communities to thrive. Its funding spans from support for grassroots projects right up to long-term five-year funding to tackle big social issues from rural poverty to homelessness.

Over the last year it has awarded money to 108 projects in North Wales.
