THE new McDonald's located on Mostyn Champneys Retail Park has lodged revised designs connected to the installation of bird netting on its roof.

The McDonald's Drive-Thru is next to Iceland.

The Application - Covering Letter from Applicant / Agent, lodged with Conwy County Borough Council, says: "A survey was carried out at the store and the full report has been included with this application, which confirmed that the bird netting is essential in line with high risk of bird nesting on the roof, which could lead to potential health and dafety to staff and the general public.

"Pictures have been included within the survey, which show that if seagulls were to nest here, with eggs and chicks, it would make it virtually impossible to access as their aggressive behaviour towards staff could be a health and safety risk.

"The bird netting is proposed to allow sufficient access to the roof plant and their maintenance, with enough clearance to ensure that birds do not nest on top of the equipment.

"Due to the parapet on the building, a slanting netting has been installed to ensure that birds do not nest and swoop down onto the customers of the store.

"A previous application was submitted as a retrospective application with the current configuration retained but although considered acceptable by the ecologist, it was withdrawn due to concerns with the design," the document adds.

"This application includes an alternative design, which includes the increase in the parapet to reduce the impact of the bird netting required.

"The requirement was highlighted during construction and shown to be necessary."
