A Christmas message from your mayor 2021: Conwy, Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and Llanfairfechan

“With Christmas rapidly approaching, it gives Loren and I great pleasure to send our heartfelt greetings to everyone in Llandudno, and that includes the Great Orme, Penrhyn Bay, Penrhynside, Craigside, Glanwydden, Bryn Pydew and Llangwstenin. Whether you live in our community, work here, or are just visiting, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

“The last 12 months have been full of challenges as we have continued to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, there has been lots of good news that should leave us feeling positive about the future. Summer 2021 was a bumper season for tourists visiting our town; Llandudno’s fireworks display has been hailed as one of the best in North Wales, attracting 30,000 visitors; local people dug deep to make this year’s local Poppy Appeal the most successful ever; ITV’s The Pier has beamed footage of one of Llandudno’s most iconic landmarks into living rooms around the globe; and Llandudno’s entry into the Britain in Bloom gardening competition saw local communities pick up more awards than ever before. We live in uncertain times, but I am filled with optimism for Llandudno in 2022.

“As well as reflecting upon the year just gone, we should make time to reflect upon the Christmas story and the values the birth of Jesus represents: peace, mercy, charity, goodwill to all and hope for the future.

“These are values that can be embraced by people of all faiths and none. Let us all take time to think about how we can embody these values in our day to day lives.”

The Mayor of Conwy’s Christmas Message

“It is with the utmost pleasure that I take this opportunity to wish everybody, especially the residents of Conwy, Deganwy and Llandudno Junction a very healthy, happy and peaceful Christmas.

“We are all painfully aware of the sacrifices and sorrow that we have all had to withstand over the last two years and I fully appreciate that as a community we still have hurdles to jump and long paths to walk along together. It is also a time for us to reflect, pause and to pray for loved one’s that we have lost

“However this is a time to enjoy the festivities and delight in time with loved ones where possible, where we can take stock of what Christmas represents.

“I wish you all the very best for the New Year, let’s have faith that 2022 will bring us strength, harmony and contentment. We will continue to look after each other and display kindness and compassion moving forward.”

The mayor of Llanfairfechan’s Christmas Message

“It is an honour to be mayor but it is an even greater honour to serve as mayor in a town so full of community spirit and generosity.

“Christmas is a time of giving and caring and this year we must make sure we give the gift of safety to each other.

“The spirit of the people of Llanfairfechan will see us through these very difficult times whilst still enjoying the beautiful place in which we are privileged to live.

“Let’s all celebrate Christmas safely and look forward to better times next year.”

The Mayor of Colwyn Bay’s Christmas Message

“It’s that time of year again when friends and family gather round to celebrate what many people believe to be in the words of the song, ‘the most wonderful time of the year’.

“With the Covid problems we have all had a difficult two years but let’s hope that we can now put those troubles behind us and celebrate the Christmas message.

“As your mayor it has been my privilege to meet so many hard-working people who are prepared to give of their time to assist others. I have attended many functions but particularly I would like to mention my first engagement on Anglesey which was a demonstration of boats adapted for disabled persons by the students of Llandrillo College, I was very impressed with that. I also attended the celebration of the Bay Gallery on Station Road who have been displaying/selling the community’s artwork for 10 years.

“I look forward to the remainder of my year and will try to work hard to promote the town and people and businesses of Colwyn Bay.

“May I take this opportunity to thank you for giving me the chance to represent you as your Mayor and to wish you all a safe Happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.”
