Christmas message from Robin Millar, Aberconwy MP

“WE ARE all familiar with the Christmas story. Of humble shepherds, wise men from a far-off land and a new family – brought together by a special event. Of gifts of gold and exotic spices for a new-born king – laid before a new baby and thankful parents. These things – gatherings, gifts and thanksgiving – are as much a part of Christmas today as two thousand years ago. This year as before, we find ourselves preparing to gather, to give gifts and show care to those we are closest to.

“In Aberconwy this year I have heard amazing stories, met inspiring people and been humbled by the efforts and care that people take to help those around them. We have also been buffeted by forces beyond our control here and by ideas conceived in far-away places.

"As your MP, I have been inspired by the way that people, voluntary groups, communities and businesses have risen to the challenges that we have faced. In the weeks, months and years ahead we will face more challenges together, and of course great opportunities, and I look forward to continuing to do all that I can to help this most beautiful part of North Wales to continue to flourish and to be an even better place to live, work and visit.

“But Christmas has not changed. The message of 'God with us' is timeless. Its importance and relevance remains. In these times of unrest, uncertainty and change – that is something I draw strength from and am comforted by.

“May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.”
