IT HAS barely started but the pantomime at Theatr Colwyn is already having to come to an end.

This is in light of new Covid restrictions coming into force on Boxing Day.

The panto, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, will now end on December 24. All performances of the production are cancelled between December 26 and January 1.

In a statement, Theatr Colwyn said: "After discussions with our pantomime producers, Magic Light Productions, regarding the new Covid restrictions which come into effect from the December 26, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all performances of Goldilocks and the Three Bears from the December 26 and January 1.

"We understand that this will be hugely disappointing to our ticket holders and hope you understand that the health and well-being of our audience, cast and staff is our top priority.

"Anyone who has booked to attend performances on these dates will be contacted regarding their booking. We ask that you don’t contact us directly at this time so that we can get information to those customers as quickly as possible.

"We appreciate that this will be disappointing news for many of our customers but we do hope to see you back for panto in 2022."

Stuart Loughland and Libby Edwards, of Magic Light Productions, have put out a further statement.

They said: "We thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for the support we have received this year for Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We are so proud of this production and are grateful for the time that we have been able to perform it live to theatre audiences.

"Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to make it happen.

"We hope to see you back at Theatr Colwyn in 2022 for our pantomime adventure 'Robin Hood'".
