A 20-year-old man accused of standing in the middle of a main road and exposing himself had been a “drunken lout,” a judge said.

Dylan Dijkstra, of Chapel Street, Llandudno, admitted exposure and threatening behaviour towards a worker at a Coop filling station at Old Colwyn last June.

District judge Gwyn Jones at Llandudno court said: "It’s hard to understand why it has taken in excess of six months for the matter to be brought before the court.”

It was an “unpleasant” incident which would have offended eyewitnesses.

But the judge said Dijkstra was now “starting to grow up.”

He imposed a community order with rehabilitation, alcohol treatment and 150 hours unpaid work.

The operational period of an existing suspended sentence was extended by six months.

The defendant must register with police for five years because of the exposure. Compensation of £150 was awarded to the Coop worker.

Prosecutor James Neary said police had been alerted at 7am on June 2 and Dijkstra was very drunk.

The threatening behaviour happened later at the garage when Dijkstra was told he wouldn’t be served.

Defence solicitor Graham Parry said his client had been with two friends and they had been drinking on the beach.

At one stage Dijkstra had been lying in the middle of the main road. “He was lucky not to have been seriously injured,” the lawyer remarked.

Mr Parry said Dijkstra had met a girlfriend, stopped drinking, and moved on with his life.
