SHARLEEN Spiteri, the wife of North Wales celebrity chef, Bryn Williams, admits her 2022 tour with her band, Texas, will force Bryn to don his apron at home as she swaps their kitchen for the stage.

The frontwoman and the rest of the Scottish band begin to celebrate 30 years since the release of their album ‘Southside’ in February.

Being on the road for months will make her husband - a regular on BBC programmes Saturday Kitchen and The Great British Menu and owner of Colwyn Bay’s ‘Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias’ - even busier than usual.

She said: “I do the cooking and I actually really do love it.

“When Bryn and I first got together, I remember thinking how similar being a chef was to being a musician.

“You do all your prep in the morning - well we don’t do the morning but we do the soundcheck and everything - then there’s a bit of a gap and then off you go; they go into service and we go on to the show.

“Then, you’re buzzing at the end of the night when you come off. The hours are really similar apart from we don’t do the early mornings. I was so shocked at how similar it was.

“I’ve always loved cooking and have grown up in a family where everybody cooks.

“I don’t cook like Bryn, obviously, but I wouldn’t expect him to sing like me!”

The Glaswegian rockers will play a string of dates across the UK, Europe and America, playing ‘Southside’ in its entirety, plus hits including songs from their new album, ‘Hi’.

Welsh rally lover Bryn, also speaking during the pair’s appearance on award-winning motoring podcast Fuelling Around, discussed his love of four wheels as well as his career on the episode.

He said: “With my restaurants, I’m always on the move, but after COVID, it was quite nice to do nothing for a bit as a chef.

“I’ve absolutely loved being back in the kitchen, back doing what I love to do. It doesn’t matter what you love, if you love something, it’s the best feeling ever.”
