IN A bid to help an adult hospice, a scrap metal dealer based in Llandudno has decided to donate the cost of its recycling.

The environmentally-friendly fundraising initiative by Arch Motors encourages customers to donate the revenue of their recyclable odds and ends that might otherwise go to waste.

Unwanted metals can be taken to metal recycling facility on Maesdu Road, Llandudno and turned into a charitable donation for St David’s Hospice, which offers free palliative care to adult patients across North West Wales.

Throughout 2021, the community donated metals amounting to £2,594.24, bringing the overall total raised for the charity to more than £10,000 since it started in 2017.

James Wilde, St David’s Conwy area fundraiser, said: “Thank you to Arch Motors for their continued support and to everyone who has donated over the years.

“To know that, by recycling your metal, you can raise such a huge amount of money is truly amazing!

“Not only are they helping the environment, but also the donation will make a massive difference to end of life care to palliative patients across North West Wales.”

Julie Gray, scrapyard manager, was thrilled with the amount raised.

She said: “We are very proud to be supporting the hospice in this way.

“If anyone has any metal they would like to donate to this cause, just bring it to Arch Motors on Maesdu Road and we will make sure the money goes to the hospice.

“We take any metal; copper, brass, lead, aluminium, cable etc., and our staff will weigh it for you.”
