AN ARTIST based in Conwy is to open a new solo exhibition featuring about 20 original watercolour and acrylic pigment paintings at a Caernarfon gallery next month.

Jan Gardner RCA’s exhibition, “The Places In Between” will open at the Life: Full Colour gallery on Saturday, March 5.

Each painting captures Jan’s unique response to her surroundings, featuring lush, expressive landscapes imbued with optimism and hope.

The exhibition provides a visual journey and a narrative to lose yourself in.

Sara McKee, Life: Full Colour founder and curator, said: “We’ve launched this year’s solo exhibitions with Jan’s show because we simply love her work.

“It’s so easy to lose yourself in the colour and poetry of Jan’s landscapes.

“They are full of joy and hope, which is everything we need right now.”

In “The Places In Between”, Jan has brought together a collection of artworks around a personal narrative, passion and expression on paper in mixed water-based media, including ink, collage and pastel and acrylic pigment on canvas and linen.

Jan added: “When I’m curating an exhibition, the paintings work together because it’s a continuum of my story, my visual language.

“My work is about intuition, possibilities, celebrations, and importantly my own imagination, feelings and sensory responses. It is deeply personal.”

Influenced by her home in North Wales, wild places further afield, and journeys, Jan reflects nature’s beauty and landscapes in her work.

She crafts with the subtle nuances of water-based media combined with layered textures and mark-making to create her distinct style.

Jan is a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy, Conwy, and a member of the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales.

“The Places In Between” will run at Life: Full Colour from March 5 to April 2, while all work will be available to buy and art lovers can utilise Collectorplan’s 0 per cent finance to bring Jan’s work home.

Life: Full Colour is located at 23-25 Hole in the Wall Street, Caernarfon. For further information, visit www.lifefullcolour.com.
