WITH pottery-painting, slime-making, crafting and much more, Play Party Create is one of Prestatyn’s go-to places to take the kids – especially now it’s expanded by taking its own place on the town’s High Street.

After general manager Danielle Johnson longed for a change of career, and to harness her enjoyment of helping children express their creativity, she initially set up Play Party Create in the back of Garden Den on Bastion Road, owned by husband Phil, in December 2020.

And though lockdown caused closure just two weeks after opening, and Play Party Create didn’t reopen until June, business has since boomed, especially since moving to its own High Street premises in December 2021.

Danielle said: “I love working with kids, and I like to help kids get creative. I’d done the nine-to-fives and working for somebody else, and it just wasn’t for me.

“So, my husband said he had a room in the back of his shop, and to run it underneath his business, but call it whatever I want.

“It’s always been my dream to work with kids. I was a store manager in Rhyl (prior to Play Party Create), but my husband said: ‘Let’s do this’, so I resigned. The next day, this got put into practice!

“I’ve been really surprised. We were unsure about moving here; we’d only been open two weeks, so we weren’t truly sure how well the business was going to do.

“It was a risky move, but one that I’ve not regretted. All of the support from the Prestatyn community has brilliant, so we’re getting there.”

Not only is the slime-making particularly popular among the children at Play Party Create, but also a personal favourite of Danielle’s, who especially enjoys the baby and toddler sessions, too.

There are also numerous special events, including the ever-popular children’s parties, as well as "Painting and Prosecco" adult evenings, and Pizza Tuesdays.

Whether sand art, pottery, crafting or slime is your or your child’s thing, there’s something for every creative mind at this new High Street store.

Danielle added: “We’re thrilled that we have grown from strength to strength, and our proudest moment to date has to be opening the doors to our own premises on the High Street.

“We are a family-run business and family values are at the core of what we do.

“We love what we do and we couldn’t do it without the support of the local community, and the extended family we now have in every customer that walks through our doors.”
