ST DAVID’S DAY celebrations took place across North Wales to celebrate the country’s national day.

In Rhyl, Ysgol Dewi Sant took part in a parade along the Rhyl seafront.

A spokesperson for the school said: “As a school we are so very proud of being Welsh.

“We celebrated the special day by organising a huge procession along the beautiful Rhyl seafront.

“Our children chanted, sang and danced all the way to the Event’s Arena.”

Elsewhere in Rhyl, the community group ‘The Ghostbuskers’ played on Rhyl High Street, admirably raising £234 for humanitarian causes for Ukraine.

In nearby Prestatyn, children of Cylch Meithrin Ysgol y Llys celebrated Saint David’s Day with folk dancing, painting daffodils and making pancakes.

They also received a special visitor, one-year-old Poppy Jessica Hodgson, who spread happiness and cheer on the famous day.

A parade in Colwyn Bay commenced at Queen’s Gardens and proceeded to the grounds of St Paul’s Church.

On the invitation of Bay of Colwyn Mayor Councillor Merrill Jones, Mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden Councillor Sharon Frobisher attended and was joined by Civic Representatives from Llandudno, Abergele, Towyn & Kinmel Bay, together with the Chairman of Conwy County Council, Councillor Abdul Khan.

The group were joined by members of the public, while pupils from Ysgol Nant y Groes, St Joseph's Primary School and Ysgol Bod Alaw also took part.

"Schools are the heartbeat of every community, and we were very proud to represent St Joseph's at this great St David's Day event organised by the town council," said James Wilkinson, headteacher of St Joseph's.

"Years Five and Six had a great time taking part, and we're all grateful that the spring sunshine showed its face!"

The procession through the town culminated in the singing of the Welsh National Anthem.
