THERE may not have quite been 101 Dalmatians at Talacre Beach on Sunday (February 27), but the 40 and their devoted owners who got together on ‘Dally-Rally’ day were certainly a sight to behold.

The spotty Dallies ran and played as a massive pack of blurring black and white or brown and white along the golden sands in front of the lighthouse under azure skies.

On National Dally Rally Day, regions around the UK, Ireland and Jersey get together for a walk and often raise funds towards Dalmatian-related good causes and rescue services.

The North Wales Dally Rally day hadn’t been able to take place during lockdown, and this first meet-up was organised through social media, with Dalmatians coming together from as far and wide as Anglesey, all of North Wales and even from the wider North West area.

Mark Roberts, a Dyserth-based member of the North Wales Dally Rally group, said: “For a couple of hours on a bright Sunday afternoon, regulars at Talacre were clearly fascinated by these beautiful dogs having a great time playing together and running around to the amusement of everyone.

“There aren’t that many Dalmatians around in the UK, so to see this many together was quite unique, and Talacre was chosen because of its accessibility, shops and facilities, and of course, the gorgeous beach and dunes.

“The 40 Dalmatians at Talacre Beach on Sunday certainly got plenty of exercise, and there will be other informal Dally-Rally get-togethers planned, so be vigilant for seeing more spots before your eyes this summer.”
