A COLWYN BAY primary school is joining efforts across the country to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal with an all-day cake sale.

On March 25, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School will aim to raise as much money as possible for those who have suffered in Ukraine since the country was invaded by Russia last month.

Businesses and bakers from the region have donated cakes and coffee for the event at St Joseph's Community Centre on Brackley Avenue, which will run from 9am until 3pm.

"St Joseph's motto is 'Grow in Love', and that involves recognising all of us around the world as one community," said St Joseph's headteacher James Wilkinson.

"At times like these, we all want to do all we can to help our global family. We know everyone will be very generous with their donations, and who doesn't like cake?"

The DEC is coordinating the UK's charitable donations towards humanitarian relief and support for those affected by the war in Ukraine.
