ABERCONWY MS Janet Finch-Saunders has expressed her disappointment at the “disgraceful” destruction of Ysgol Tudno property.

Ysgol Tudno, a primary school in Llandudno, was vandalised on the weekend as attackers smashed 24 windows and destroyed a newly created outside play area.

The school now face the task of replacing the damaged areas, and also face costs of up to £7,000 in installing CCTV on the school grounds.

Mrs Finch-Saunders admonished the group (yet unknown) for the damage they had caused, saying: “This senseless act of vandalism and destruction is truly shocking and is not an accurate representation of the young people of Llandudno or Aberconwy.

“Ysgol Tudno has served our community for generations, providing outstanding education to hundreds of children and young people every year.

“The school and its building is an iconic part of our town’s history.

“As such, it is truly disgraceful to see this important local building being targeted in this way.

“I am committed to working with the school and relevant authorities to ensure that appropriate safeguards are put in place to protect the facility from future damage.

“All our children have the right to receive their education in a safe and secure school free from such mindless acts of vandalism.”
