A YOUTH has been arrested in connection with the recent damage caused to Ysgol Tudno and Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn.

Ysgol Tudno, a primary school in Llandudno, was recently vandalised with 24 windows smashed and an outdoor play area ravaged, with eye witnesses spotting a gang of youths fleeing the scene on Saturday evening.

The attack was not the first to target the school, which has suffered damage for the last two months.

Several other suspects have also been identified in relation to the attacks on the schools.

This arrest is among several to be conducted by North Wales Police, with a youth arrested yesterday for causing significant damage to a number of vehicles at a business in Mochdre, as well as for separate offences of public order and assault.

Another report of a burglary of a business in Llandudno, where a large quantity of Vape products were stolen, resulted in the arrest of three suspects, again all youths, on suspicion of burglary.

This is all in addition to another youth who was arrested and remanded in custody to Llandudno Magistrates court on Tuesday for a theft offence and breach of previously imposed bail conditions.

Sgt Ball from the Colwyn Bay Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are aware that our community has suffered significantly due to the utterly unacceptable behaviour of a small minority of youths from the local area who seem to have no regard for others or for the misery they are causing to the communities they live within.

“We have taken robust and targeted action against this group already and today is proof that we will continue to do so.

“My team and I are aware that this situation is upsetting and frustrating for the victims and the community and would like to assure you that we are doing everything possible to try and improve the situation for you all.

“We have been, and continue to, work with all our partners to tackle this issue from all sides including diversionary work to prevent offending, working with housing, social services, education, Conwy County Council and others.

“The problems caused by these youths cannot be resolved by the Police alone and it is critical that all agencies work together to fix these issues.

“My team will continue to try and work towards a joint problem-solving approach with these partners but were it is required the message is clear that we will make arrests and send offenders to court when this is appropriate.”
