FOR 10 years, North Wales Honda has resided on Mostyn Broadway in Llandudno.

Now with 24 team members, the evolving family business will enter its second decade on Argyll Road, ready for the new era of hybrid and electric cars.

Managing director David Paveley relocated to North Wales in 2012, after a successful career in global motorsport.

Having purchased the Llandudno Honda car dealership, David set about rebuilding the customer journey, the technical capabilities and marketing the business to a wider audience.

"An essential part of the journey for me was making the business sincerely family-orientated,” David said.

David’s wife Sally joined the company to look after HR, IT and anything else that needed doing, while his daughter Jade joined the service and MOT department before moving into sales.

“Having been here for 10 years, we feel that we are part of the town's fabric, but our business has changed a lot in that time,” said Jade.

“When I started working here aged 19, we were selling predominately diesel and petrol cars and the occasional hybrid.

“Now I’m 29, we are selling electric, plug-in hybrid, self-charging hybrid and maybe a petrol or diesel car here and there.

“As a local and family business, we feel a responsibility to help our loyal customers navigate these changes.”

When David opened North Wales Honda, there were two salesman and one brand. The business now employs six salespeople and offers customers two brands.

He added: “Adding the Kia brand was very important. We can now offer customers an even wider variety of products.

“Like Honda, Kia is a global brand which is growing at a rapid pace and we are proud to be part of that growth.

“We have our Honda brand, with its reliable and trustworthy reputation, that is the foundation of our business in Llandudno.

“Bringing the Kia brand to Llandudno at the start of the electric car revolution is the right place to continue to grow our family business long-term.”

North Wales Honda and Llandudno Kia are part of the newly branded North Wales Motor Company Ltd, but the family of business has branched out from car dealerships and has added a new string to their bow - The Motorsport Lounge.

Led by Dave’s wife Sally, The Motorsport Lounge is a unique themed venue with a stage, bar, conference space and specialist car museum.

Live music is one of the venue’s specialities, with rock performances to jazz nights, and is situated on Builder Street, only a two-minute walk from the dealership.
