THE Aldi store in a Llandudno retail park which closed for redevelopments last year is to re-open next month.

The supermarket, based at Mostyn Champneys Retail Park, east of the town centre, will resume trading on Thursday, May 26.

It closed on Christmas Eve so that refurbishments and extension works could be carried out.

It will return next month with a new layout which, it says, will provide more space for its fresh, chilled, and food-to-go ranges.

The revamped Aldi store is expected to be about double the size of its previous shop.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “We closed our Mostyn Champneys Retail Park store in Llandudno to carry out refurbishment and extension works.

“When we reopen on May 26, the store will be in our new layout, which ensures more space for fresh, chilled and food-to-go ranges.

“It will be much bigger, brighter with simpler layouts and wider aisles.

“We will keep the community updated on developments.”

Last September, plans were lodged for a new Costa Coffee at Mostyn Champneys, which involved converting part of Aldi into the coffee shop.

With the Aldi store set to grow in size, Argos - which has relocated to a different unit – was stripped out to allow for its expansion.
