APPLICATIONS are open for this year’s edition of an annual musical bursary in memory of a late member of the Llandudno Rotary group.

Past president Bob Mills was revered both within his own club, and throughout the wider Rotary District 1180, for his selfless, and largely backstage, work for the organisation.

After his death in 2017, his family kindly funded a Bob Mills Memorial Award in the form of an annual bursary to encourage musical talent from the region, reflecting Bob’s own love of music and the “boy band” of his youth.

Past awards have been given to:

• 2018: A pupil of Ysgol John Bright towards the cost of further vocal and theory tuition.

• 2019: Ysgol Deganwy towards the cost of musical instruments.

In 2020 and 2021, no awards were given due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
