A BOY of twelve accused of 19 offences in a £9,000 crime spree was “a good kid really”, his mum told a youth court.

He received a nine months referral order.

Court chairwoman Ann Dickinson told the youngster at Llandudno: ”It’s your first time in court for sentencing. Custody isn’t an option at this stage.”

No compensation was awarded.

The boy admitted a £5,000 burglary at BM Mobiles and Computers shop in St George’s Place, Llandudno, when “vapes” were among his haul.

He also admitted a catalogue of thefts from shops, threatening behaviour, harassment at a block of flats and a shop, £4,000 criminal damage at Llandrillo yn Rhos infants school, and common assault at a store.

Defence lawyer Hannah Davies said social services had become involved and the boy was sorry for his behaviour.

“He doesn’t know why he does it,” she remarked.

“There has been a lot of difficulty getting him to see the consequences of his actions.”

Many of the offences involved young boys misbehaving. But her client had been on police bail and had settled down since being banned from associating with some other youngsters.

The court chairwoman told the boy: ”You went on an offending spree through February and March.

"We need to prevent further offending or it’s going to get worse and worse for you.”
