A MAN from Colwyn Bay has received a suspended sentence after he was found guilty of driving while under the influence of drugs and alcohol on separate occasions in Gwynedd.

Luke Bryan, 31, of Mor Arwel, Old Colwyn, was accused of the following:

• Driving on Beach Road, Bangor in a Vauxhall Astra vehicle on October 26, 2021 with 3.2 micrograms per litre of blood of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC - the cannabinoid molecule in marijuana), and 120 ug/L of Benzoylecgonine (BZE - a cocaine breakdown product) in his system.

• Driving on Bethel Road, Caernarfon in a Mazda3 vehicle on April 4 with 90 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

At Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court on April 25, Mr Bryan pleaded guilty to the drink-driving offence.

Having pleaded not guilty to either drug-driving offence on February 14, he was found guilty of both on April 27.

On May 9, Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court handed him a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

This includes an eight-week concurrent sentence for his drink-driving offence.

Mr Bryan is also to undergo six months of alcohol treatment, and was banned from driving for four years.

He is also to pay £585 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £128 victim surcharge, making a total payment of £713.
