A BOOK signing event will take place this weekend to coincide with the release of an author from Llanelian’s second published novel.

Christopher Kerr’s “The Barbarossa Secret” will be released on Saturday, May 28, and on the same day, from 11am, he will be signing copies at the town’s Waterstones book shop on Mostyn Street.

The book, which weaves the suspense of discovering a long-buried secret with an epic human drama, follows the release of his debut novel, “The Covenant”, in 2021.

Set between events during World War II and the build-up of the COVID-19 pandemic, the book tells of how a journalist seeks the truth about his family’s personal involvement in one of the greatest hidden episodes of the war.

But his revelations prove so dramatic that they will shake the foundations of present-day governments and put his own life at risk, as intelligence agencies seek to keep the information hidden.

Christopher said: “Exciting times! I’m looking forward to it myself – it’s going to be quite an exciting event. It’ll be going on from 11am, probably until mid-afternoon.

“This one is creating a bit of a media storm – I’ve been very pleasantly shocked by what’s been taking place! I’ve had TV and radio interviews, with still some to do – it’s been a very interesting time for me.

“I’m looking forward to meeting some of the readers of my work who have said they want to come over. It’s nice to connect with those out there who enjoy your work. It’s a pleasant part of the promotion process. Hopefully, I’ll see quite a few people there.

“It’s been an incredible journey with this one. It’s been a surprise, a rollercoaster ride – in the rankings online, I’m listed up there with some of the top authors, which is just incredible.

“It’s been quite a shock to the system, but I’m enjoying it.”

A former civil servant, marketing executive, and entrepreneur, Christopher now concentrates on writing, based upon a keen interest in politics and current affairs.

He took up writing novels following the death of his wife, who always encouraged him to fulfil his lifelong dream, and has also almost finished his third book, “Fission”.

“The Barbarossa Secret” is available for pre-order now from most major book stores, and is released via The Book Guild.
