AFTER a break of more than two years around a hundred guests gathered to celebrate the life of the Llandudno Lifeboat Station Volunteers.

Following a dinner at the St Georges Hotel, the event also witnessed presentations to several long-serving crew members and volunteers for their outstanding service over numerous years.

Among the recipients was Les Jones, a retired full-time mechanic received a special award from Chris Gaskin the RNLI's Area Lifesaving Manager.

Mr Jones first volunteered for the crew in early 1986, working his way up to assistant mechanic before being appointed to the post of full-time Station Mechanic in 1999.

He now continues as a volunteer crew member, both as an assistant coxswain and mechanic, and supporting other lifeboat stations around the region.

The other award winners were Captain Marcus Elliott, David Roberts, Keith Charlton and Dan Jones MBE, who were all recognised for their long service and dedication as volunteers for the RNLI at Llandudno.
