ST David’s Hospice is celebrating the difference volunteers make to their organisation and thanking them for all their time and dedication during this year’s Volunteers’ Week, which runs from June 1-7.

Volunteer Co-ordinator at St David’ Hospice, Lou Barber, said: “Volunteers' Week is a chance for us as an organisation to recognise the fantastic contribution our volunteers make to St David's Hospice, and more importantly, to say a massive thank you.

“It's been an exceptionally difficult couple of years and it's been wonderful to have our volunteers by our side through it all. We honestly can't thank them enough.

North Wales Pioneer: Martin Parsons.Martin Parsons.

Martin Parsons, from Llangefni, volunteers in loving memory of his wife Bev and is often seen helping at fundraising events or as a shop assistant in Menai Bridge.

“The care and compassion they provided Bev and my family with was amazing - priceless!,” said Mr Parsons.

“I promised her that I would support the Hospice in any way I could.

“It’s my way of thanking them and helping in a small way to ensure that this organization keeps operating to provide this specialist care for people that need it in the local community.”

North Wales Pioneer: Ben Blundell.Ben Blundell.

Ben Blundell, from Rhos-on-Sea, volunteers at the Reuse Shop in Mochdre and has learnt how to PAT test electrical items for the Hospice shops.

Mr Blundell said: “I really enjoy keeping myself busy and being able to support the charity using my new skills and knowledge, as well as upcycling and recycling to prevent landfill.

“I have enjoyed meeting new people, doing my part for the community and the environment.”

North Wales Pioneer: Yvonne Stewart.Yvonne Stewart.

Yvonne Stewart has volunteered for St David’s Hospice for more than 20 years at the Conwy Shop.

Ms Stewart said: “I love meeting people, I think volunteering is good for you - I get a lot out of it.

“I help to keep the shop tidy, pricing things and putting the stuff out – basically general shop work which I have done in the past.

“I think St David’s Hospice is a wonderful place to support.”
