THIS week’s Nostalgia uncovers some of the history of the East and West Parade in Rhyl.

The Parade/Promenade in Rhyl has always been one of the town’s main features, drawing in crowds throughout the year.

Dating back more than 100 years, horses and carriages could once be seen transporting goods and people along the Promenade.

With the sands and beaches of Rhyl nearby, the shops and vendors of the Parade have always provided for patrons, tourists and visitors.

Once the hub of the town, the street was aligned with tour buses (to destinations such as Marine Lake) and amusements, attracting large crowds from the across North Wales.

The summer seasons were the most popular, with tourists visiting the beach for a dip and a swim, and the Parade offering refreshments and entertainment.
