A MAN from Conwy has been handed a suspended sentence after he was found guilty of assaulting a woman in a hotel in Rhyl.

Brandon Bellham, 27, of Esplanade, Penmaenmawr, was accused of assaulting Helen Moss by beating her at The George Hotel on December 28, 2021.

He pleaded guilty at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on May 18.

On June 8, Mr Bellham was sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 18 months.

He was also ordered to abstain from consuming alcohol for 120 days, and to not contact Moss directly or indirectly, save for through solicitors in respect of child contact arrangements, until June 7, 2023.

Mr Bellham is also to undertake a maximum of 30 days’ rehabilitation activity.

He is also to pay compensation of £100, as well as £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £128 victim surcharge.

This made a total payment of £313, to be paid in monthly instalments of £50 from July 8.
