THE OWNER of Connah's Quay Nomads Football Club has made a £10,000 donation to a renowned local equine charity.
Gary Dewhurst, who is the founder of Gap Personnel Group and the owner of football club, made the generous donation to Clwyd Special Riding Centre, based in Llanfynydd.
Every week, the riding centre, a charity run by volunteers, welcomes over 200 people of all ages with additional needs and disabilities, who benefit from the pleasure and stimulation of riding, carriage-driving and equestrian vaulting.
The donation will focus on funding the charity’s headline event of 2022 as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations - its charity day at Bangor-on-Dee races on September 28.

Mr Dewhurst said: "Having discovered this amazing charity in lockdown and then meeting recently retired chair, Ann Lambert and Victoria Everall (Trustee and daughter of the original founder), I was blown away by their passion and dedication towards keeping this incredible centre going, despite huge financial and logistical challenges during Covid 19.
“The charity provides a variety of equine experiences for people with additional needs and is a UK Centre of Excellence in this sphere."
He added: "Given Bangor on Dee is my local track, I will be there on the day to hopefully back a few winners!"
