CAROL Vorderman is one of the favourites to star in an upcoming I’m A Celebrity… spin-off.

An All-Stars version of the ITV reality show is due to be filmed in South Africa.

It will be a stand-alone show in the style of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, and the regular series will take place as normal.

TV presenter and author Carol, 61, who grew up in Rhyl and Prestatyn, is favourite to take part after becoming one of the breakout stars of the 2016 series.

She came eighth, lasting 18 days in the Australian jungle in the series eventually won by Scarlett Moffatt.

The Sun reported that a source told the tabloid: "Carol was always top of producers wish list: in some ways she was the perfect campmate.

"She was funny, outspoken and intelligent and let’s just say she gave the younger girls a run for their money in the jungle shower."

It was announced in April that the spin-off show would be made, with the original series returning Down Under this year after two years at Gwrych Castle, Abergele.

It comes as Carol stepped in to replace Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show after the presenter tested positive for Covid-19.

Kelly, 62, tweeted early on Monday morning saying the virus had “finally got me” and she had returned a positive result over the weekend.

“Thanks to the vaccine it’s not too bad and I hope to be back at work very soon,” she wrote.

“Huge thanks to @carolvorders who will be hosting @lorraine until I’m back.”

Carol, 61, later told viewers that Kelly had caught “the dreaded you know what” and wished her a “speedy recovery”.

The former Countdown star and Pride of Britain host then joked: “I didn’t look like this at five o’clock this morning, that is for sure.”
