A PUB in Colwyn Bay has closed as of today (July 18), a decision that it said has been taken “with a very heavy heart”.

The Pavilion, on Abergele Road, shared the news on Friday, prior to its farewell weekend of “THNX FR TH MMRS” tribute shows.

The pub thanked its “incredible” staff and customers, adding that it closes its doors having “succeeded” in trying to “create something special”.

The pub posted: “As a community, we felt it best to be completely open and honest with everybody, and it is with a very heavy heart we announce that as of Monday, our doors will be closed.

“In the last 19 months we have, despite any setback, created a community that people did feel a part of.

“We’ve had raves, we’ve had band nights. We’ve had both Cashmore brothers at the helm of very different quiz nights, we’ve had Josh opening the Cornerhouse and creating such a unique and incredible vibe and atmosphere unseen anywhere else in Colwyn Bay.

“They (staff members) are all incredible and talented people that came together to try to create something special, something lasting in the minds of everybody who steps through those doors.

“There have certainly been ups and downs but, especially now in hindsight, it makes the ups we’ve had feel higher.

“To those who came to a quiz night, a band night, a rave, an open mic night, a karaoke night, a random night or a WTF night, we say thank you as humbly as we possibly can.

“We close our doors proudly, with our heart on our sleeve, knowing that to the best of our ability we tried to create something special. And we succeeded.”
