A former teaching assistant from Llandudno Junction has said goodbye to her locks by doing a sponsored head shave to raise funds for St David’s Hospice.
Kirsty Williams, who used to work at Ysgol Gogarth, decided to shave her head to support her mum, Julie Williams.
Julie was diagnosed with incurable lung cancer at the beginning of July, and immediately had to start chemotherapy treatment.
As her mum began losing her hair, Kirsty felt that the best way to show her support was to shave off her hair as well.
On Wednesday, 27 July, at Enigma Hairdressing, Llandudno, Kirsty took to the salon chair.
Enigma Hairdressing have been long-time supporters of St David’s Hospice, and Manager Ruth Hughes kindly shaved Kirsty’s head.
“I wanted to support my mum as she went through chemotherapy and hair loss,” said Kirsty.
“I felt petrified beforehand, but after it happened, I felt liberated!
“I knew that what I was doing was for a worthy cause and I was so proud of myself for supporting St David’s Hospice, who offer care and support for families going through similar circumstances to us.”
