A NEW “friends group” for a park in Llandudno Junction held a successful open day yesterday (Thursday).

At Cae Derw Park in Llandudno Junction, the Aberconwy MS, Janet Finch-Saunders, paid tribute to “Friends of Cae Derw Park”, who are proactively working hard to see further enhancements to this play area.

Mrs Finch-Saunders said: “Today has been a huge success for Anne Evans and her team of trustees and volunteers who have organised the event that saw a large number of stands, such as Cartrefi Conwy, Warm Homes Wales, the Citizens Advice Bureau and other stalls.

“It was lovely to see so many children and families have a super time.

“Under the stewardship of Anne Evans and her fabulous team, I have no doubts that they will be able to achieve greater enhancements to this park and I look forward to working with them going forward to see the scheme come to fruition.

“I was very heartened to learn that Anne is raising funds to have a local heart screening unit available, and I will be working along Anne and the group to see those aims fulfilled also.

“Any volunteers would be welcomed to join this group. If you would like to help in any way, please contact me and I will be happy to share you details with the group.”
