YSGOL Aberconwy students received their GCSE results today, as staff highlighted their “maturity and resilience” as key factors in crossing the line.
Year 11 students at the Conwy school achieved an outstanding set of GCSE results in a wide range of academic and vocational subjects.
Gaynor Murphy, Deputy Headteacher, said. “We are so proud of the achievements of these young people.
“They have worked incredibly hard and have overcome the challenges they have faced.”
Some notable performances included:
- Kiera Williams (8 A*s and 2 As)
- Lucie Metters (8 A*s and 2 As)
- Zak Parry (7 A*s and 3 As)
- Cian Adams (4 A*s and 5 As)
A record number of the year group are set to return to Ysgol Aberconwy’s sixth form to study a wide range of A-Levels and Vocational courses.
Some are heading to local Further Education colleges and some are going into employment.
For example, student Coral Cantwell has secured a place at the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts
Headteacher Ian Gerrard congratulated all the year 11 students and staff on their results and wished them all the very best for their future, adding: “I’m delighted in the outstanding achievements of our students this year, especially given the disruption they have faced over the last few years.
“We wish them well for the next stage of their education and look forward to working with so many of them in the future.”
