THE Flying9’s Car Club are driving 300 miles to all 14 castles located in North and Mid Wales, in aid of the Friends of Renal Care (FORC) Glan Clwyd.

One of the organisers, Justin Humphreys, says he wants to thank FORC and the staff of Ysbyty Glan Clwyd for the amazing care he had during, and after, the kidney transplant he received in 2016.

“Thanks to them I’ve had a second life, before the transplant my kidney function was down to six per cent and I’d spend hours on dialysis every day,” said Justin, who lives in Glan Conwy.

“FORC massively helped during this really difficult time by giving me a dialysis machine at home which meant I didn’t have to go into hospital every day.

“I will never forget the kindness of Ysbyty Glan Clwyd staff like Dawn Oliver, a heart transplant specialist nurse, who was just brilliant throughout.”

The Flying9’s Car Club, so-called as all the members drives Porsches, will start their castle journey from Flint Castle at around 8am on October 1.

They will then drive down to Powis Castle and Castell y Bere in Mid Wales before finishing at Conwy Castle at about midnight.

“We’d be very grateful for your support and any donations towards this year’s charity for kidney patients North Wales,” added Justin, 54.
