WE asked Pioneer readers what they thought was the one thing missing from Llandudno town centre, and these were some of their thoughts.

Marissa Williams believes one welcome addition would be a market, adding that “as Llandudno is a holiday resort a Saturday Market is a great thing and lots of holidaymakers love a good market to wander around – it would be lovely to buy meat, fruit, fish and local produce”.

Jane Bradley called for an ice rink or roller skating rink, with Katie Warburton echoing these thoughts and calling for a dance hall and sea life centre.

Bethan Wynne-Jones feels that “craft guild centres” and independent stores are needed, while Martin Adams backed the independent route, calling for a “decent record store that also sells clothing, games and music/movie memorabilia, but not HMV!”

Lynn Oliver wants a bingo hall in the centre, and Ester Dee says a champagne bar would be a boost for the town.

Zoe Roberts and Anthony Watson feel that an outdoor skatepark, like in other areas of North Wales, is what is missing, using the example of Deeside’s skatepark as one to emulate.

Edna Buxton called for a bowling alley, with others wanting a John Lewis to move to the centre (despite the retailer having closed numerous stores in recent years).

Other shops people called for were fishing tackle shops, Hobbycraft, Dunelm, Miller and Carter, IKEA, and Burger King.

Many said one thing that was missing was Marks & Spencer, which is now at Parc Llandudno, towards the bottom of Mostyn Street. Some referred to the new store as “horrible”.

Kevin Hughes called for “decent mobile signal”, with Llandudno notorious for its often temperamental signal and mobile data reach.

Christine Hardwick said the town centre could do with a trampoline park, or “more soft play areas inside for little kids”.

Other suggestions included a fountain, easy access parking, clean pavements, an aquatic centre, and greater activities for younger people.

More humorous takes included Joel Davies saying “people under the age of 40”, and a strip club.
