AN ARTIST from Conwy has displayed a beautiful tribute to the Queen on the Cayley Promenade.

Ann Gray painted a heart-shaped piece of Paddington Bear and Queen Elizabeth II, having felt a “warm affection” for the monarch on a familial and inspirational level.

Ann said: “I have spent all my 65 years under the Queen’s rule and watched her life unfold under the public eye.

“I felt a warm affection for her, as a Queen but as a daughter, mother and grandmother.

“The Queen has been an inspiration to us all.

Fully committed for life to her duty to the Crown yet without pomp, superiority or attitude, but with compassion and a softness.

Ann said she was “greatly moved” by the news of the Queen’s death, and at first wanted to go to London to join the crowds paying tribute.

“I sat down logically and picked up a paint brush,” said Ann.

“I didn’t plan it or design anything – I painted from the heart.

“I just wanted to express love and thought others may like to pause and reflect.”
