WITH the visit of the new Prince and Princess of Wales to Holyhead today, we take a look back at Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Anglesey in 1958.
The Queen's royal barge was first welcomed at MacKenzie Pier in Holyhead, with crowds waving from the beach desperate to get a view.
Joined by the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip and Lord-Lieutenant of Anglesey Sir Richard Williams-Bilkeley, the Queen met with dignitaries including Chief Constable of Gynedd Constabulary, Lt Col Jones-Williams.
The visit was extremely popular with the residents of Holyhead, and the Queen was presented with a bouquet by Ms Gwersyl Pierce Jones.
The royal party then visited Llangefni County Secondary School, before meeting more regional dignitaries.
The Queen also paid a visit to Beaumaris Castle, setting foot inside the Assize Court, and enjoyed a tour of the castle and crossing its drawbridge.
